We love finding new ways for friends, family and loved ones to join in our special bond of sisterhood. In addition to our sisterhood and philanthropy events, we host many others throughout the year to share the positive impact Sigma Kappa has had on our lives. These social events allow us to have fun and explore the beautiful city of San Luis Obispo together!
As Sigma Kappa women, family is extremely important to us. During our annual Mom's Weekend, we invite our wonderful mothers, grandmothers and any other significant women in our lives to learn more about Sigma Kappa. The weekend is full of fun activities such as shopping, practicing yoga, eating brunch, planting succulents, touring the chapter house and so much more!
It's always an honor to spend time with our fathers during our annual Dad's Weekend. Just like Mom's Weekend, we invite our amazing fathers to join us in SLO for a couple of fun-filled, action-packed days. During this weekend, we go on hikes, play softball, barbecue dinner, play games such as cornhole and more!
Sigma Kappa also hosts numerous social events each year, providing members the opportunity to meet new people and get to know other on-campus organizations, both within Greek life and beyond. Overseen by our Social Chair, Genavie Williams, our chapter hosts exchanges, date parties and formal dances. To make them as fun as possible, we often set themes for each event. Past themes have included Sigma '70s, Biker Bash, '80s in Aspen and Dates of the Calendar! Our members also participate in intramural and club sports, such as soccer and volleyball.
There are two formal events our chapter hosts during the school year: a semi-formal in the fall, and a formal in the spring. These extravagant evening socials are the perfect time for Sigma Kappas to dance, dine and have a blast with the date of their choosing. Past locations for formal events have included Tooth & Nail Winery and Avila Beach Gold Resort!
Sigma Kappa also loves to participate in Greek Week, a week of fun and games within Cal Poly's Greek community. Sororities and fraternities compete in fundraising competitions each day, ranging from flag football and tug-o-war to our favorite event: lipsyncing! This is a week we look forward to all year, and a great way to get to know even more Greek students.
